A few minutes away from the Balagtas NLEX exit is a small fishing spot in Bulacan called Pesqueria De Tiaong. The word ‘Pesqueria’ is Spanish for fishing ground; and ‘Tiaong’ in Guiguinto is the barangay where this rustic place is located. This is the perfect getaway for recreational fishing enthusiasts, or for people who want to simply unwind and relax while enjoying the calm scenery.
Pesqueria de Tiaong boasts of a big man-made pond, landscaped gardens and greeneries, a floating nipa hut, barbeque grill, parking space and clean comfort rooms. They are open from 5AM to 7PM daily. This is open to the public (no entrance fees!) but prior reservation is required. If you are looking for a fun spot to take the family, this place is excellent.
The pond is abundant in ‘Tilapia’, ‘Dalag/Bulig’ (mud fish), Cream Dory, ‘Hito’ (catfish), and other fresh water fish. Feel free to bring your own fishing gear and lures. They have a few fishing rods that you can rent and worm baits for sale. You can catch and release the fish or buy them for only ₱100 per kilo. (Prices may change in the future. Nothing beats fresh fish cooked right after catching them live from the pond. They have a barbeque grill which you can use for free. You can even borrow cooking utensils. There are plenty of small sari-sari stores in the area, in case you would need to buy some seasoning, soft drinks or ice. There is no corkage fee if you bring your own food and beverage.
The floating nipa hut, which you can rent for a small fee, can accommodate up to 12 people. It has a small dining table where your family and friends can fish, drink and eat to your heart’s desire. The place is family-friendly and the owners are very accommodating to the guests.
Pesqueria de Tiaong is a private resort and is being developed as an events place for different occasions. I suggest you call or text them for reservation of their fishing amenities before actually going there. Sometimes the place is jam-packed and booked for private parties.
Pesqueria de Tiaong – Upgrades
Most recently, Pasqueria de Tiaong have upgraded their facilities to include a swimming pool, shower and changing rooms, and air-conditioned rooms for rent for overnight stays. Because of these, it has become a perfect venue for a quick getaway for the family. You can even have a great day for a photoshoot in their Instagram-worthy gardens and coffee corners.
