This article is for those Bulakenyo Electronics and Communication Engineers who want to renew their expired or soon-to-be expired PRC or ECE license ID. You need to renew your license ten years after passing the ECE board exams.
How to Renew Your ECE License ID for Bulakenyos?
1. Make sure your IECEP membership is updated.
Before going through the PRC online renewal website, you must ensure that your Institute of Electronics and Communications Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) membership is updated. If you are not sure, it is best to register at myiecep.net. Create and select Bulacan as your local chapter if you do not have one.
Suppose you do have one but are still in another chapter. In that case, you can transfer by clicking “Transfers” in the upper right corner of your account, then select Bulacan as your destination chapter, and IECEP – Bulacan will immediately approve your transfer request.
Scan your recent 2×2 picture and your old PRC ECE License. You will need those to register your account with myiecep.net. The 2×2 image should be presentable by wearing something formal or semi-formal with a white background. In my experience, I used the same scanned photo for myiecep.net account, IECEP-Bulacan membership form, and PRC online registration.
I must admit that I had trouble registering with myiecep.net because I lost my PRC ECE license ID long ago. Good thing I was able to get a scanned copy from my old files. Once this is done, you must contact IECEP – Bulacan Chapter for the next steps.
2. Submit IECEP – Bulacan Chapter Membership
Coordinate with IECEP -Bulacan Chapter. In my case, I sent an email to iecepbulacan.membership@gmail.com, and they graciously assisted me along the way. You can also check out their Facebook page at IECEP – Bulacan Chapter.
Prepare the following documents:
- Duly accomplished membership form (Download here: (https://bit.ly/38vCghJ)
- 2×2 ID picture in white background (Lastname, Firstname_ID)
- E-signature (need in the creation of the IECEP Bulacan Chapter ID)
- Scanned PRC ID (Lastname, Firstname_PECE/ECE/ECT)
- Scanned IECEP ID (name_IECEPID) or previous CoGS or official receipt
Send the documents to the IECEP Bulacan Membership email:
- Email Address: iecepbulacan.membership@gmail.com
- Subject: [Membership Renewal] <Your Name>
3. Settle your IECEP Membership dues through IECEP – Bulacan Chapter
Here are the membership dues:

Back dues / Unpaid years of membership:
- PECE & ECE Php 350.00 / year (maximum of 7 years)
- ECT Php 150.00 / year (maximum of 7 years)
Send the proof of payment to IECEP Bulacan Membership using the same email thread (iecepbulacan.membership@gmail.com)
In my case, I had to pay around 3,900 pesos to settle for my membership and back dues. I paid using GCASH and IECEP – Bulacan Chapter acknowledged it quickly. Special thanks to Engr. Donald Lapiguera, Governor of IECEP Bulacan Chapter, for the assistance.
A lifetime membership option is also available, but it cost 15,000 pesos as of January 2022. This option is perfect for super busy ECE engineers who don’t want to go through the ordeal of renewing their membership every three years or so. Believe it or not, your active IECEP membership is required when renewing your PRC or ECE License ID.
4. Download and Print your Certificate of Good Standing from myiecep.net
Once your IECEP – Bulacan Membership form is accepted and processed with your fully paid dues, your myiecep.net profile will be updated shortly. You will download your Certificate of Good Standing (COGS), which you will use to book your PRC ECE License ID renewal appointment.
5. Register to PRC Online Renewal
You need to register an account with PRC online via https://www.prc.gov.ph/. The process is quick and easy as long as the website is not down. From there, you can book your online appointment and select the nearest PRC satellite office in your area. Unfortunately for us Bulakenyos, the nearest offices are the PRC San Fernando Pampanga, PRC Main Office (Morayta), PRC Robinsons Place Manila, PRC Robinsons Novaliches, or PRC Robinsons Galleria Ortigas.
Unfortunately, I had to settle with PRC Robinsons Place Las Piñas because all the other locations are fully booked for my preferred schedule. Don’t forget to print your PRC online appointment confirmation and your Certificate of Good Standing. By the way, the PRC renewal fee varies, and you have to settle it first before being given the appointment confirmation from PRC.
6. Be on time for your PRC appointment schedule
Dress appropriately and arrive at your preferred PRC Satellite Office location on time. Like any other government office, visitors are expected to observe the proper dress code. People wearing sleeveless shirts, shorts, and flip-flops won’t be allowed to enter the premises.
List of PRC Satellite Offices in Metro Manila:
- PRC Morayta
- PRC PICC
- PRC Robinsons Place Manila
- PRC Robinsons Galleria Ortigas
- PRC Robinsons Place Las Piñas
- PRC Robinsons Novaliches
A renewed professional identification card is released on the chosen appointment date. You will get your card right away as the PRC satellite office will print it with the other applicants on the spot. It took me about an hour to complete the process, including the document submission and the card printing. Patience is a virtue.
