10th Week Summary — COVID-19 in Bulacan: May 13 to May 19
May 13, 2020 – At the start of the 10th week of the battle vs. COVID-19 in Bulacan, there are 139 COVID-19 Cases, 45 recovered patients, and 27 deaths in the province.
- “Ambo” intensifies into severe tropical storm; more areas under Signal No. 1 including Bulacan
- National Task Force Against COVID-19 chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. on Wednesday denied irregularities in the government’s procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE) sets worth P20 billion.
- National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas apologized for his birthday celebration, which drew backlash for supposedly violating the ban on mass gathering and rule on physical distancing during the coronavirus pandemic.
- Police arrested a 41-year-old salesman in Butuan City for a Facebook post where he called President Rodrigo Duterte an “asshole” and “crazy.”
May 14, 2020 – The National Water Resources Board (NWRB) from Angat Dam has raised the allocation of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) from 46 cubic meters per second (CMS) to 48 CMS to boost the raw water supply for Metro Manila residents.
May 15, 2020 – Typhoon Ambo Signal No. 2 over Bulacan and nearby provinces; some parts of Eastern Bulacan was put under Signal No. 3 as Ambo passed Central Luzon.
- Flood warning was released for low-lying towns and nearby areas as a rubber gate in Bustos Dam was not functional.
May 17, 2020 – Billions of pesos in taxpayer money may have lined the pockets of corrupt public officials behind the procurement of allegedly overpriced medical supplies for the Department of Health (DOH), according to Sen. Panfilo Lacson.
- Senators objected to the reported move of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to continue gathering signatures showing support for introducing amendments to the 1987 Constitution even as the country struggles with the COVID-19 crisis.
- Malacañang officials distanced themselves from a series of arrests of individuals who openly criticized President Duterte and his allies on social media.
May 18, 2020 – As the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread in the Philippines, the Duterte government has migrated online its signature-gathering campaign in support of revising the 1987 Constitution.
- After photographs posted by his own office showed Police Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas breaking quarantine rules, Metro Manila’s top cop is set to keep his position as director of the National Capital Region Police Office, Police Gen. Archie Gamboa, PNP chief said.
May 19, 2020 – The 10th week ended with 152 COVID cases, 57 recoveries, and 30 deaths in the province.
- City of San Jose del Monte distributes free vegetable seedlings to their residents to help them grow in the middle of the pandemic.
- Taal update: 15 quakes, weak steaming monitored; volcano still on alert level 1.
- President Duterte says he wants Sinas to remain as NCRPO chief: “I need him in his post.”
- Bulacan-born actress and philantrophist Angel Locsin (from Sta. Maria, Bulacan) is raising funds to buy coronavirus test kits.

May 13, 2020 – 139 COVID-19 Cases, 45 Recovered Patients, & 27 Deaths
The Bulacan Provincial Health Office reported 139 confirmed cases, 52 recovered patients, and 27 deaths.
The lone new case comes from the town of the City of San Jose Del Monte. The 7 new recoveries come from the towns of (1) San Jose Del Monte City, (2) Malolos City, (1) Baliuag, (1) Santa Maria, (1) Guiguinto, and (1) Pandi.
The City of San Jose Del Monte is still at the top with 22 cases. Malolos City followed next with 17 cases. Marilao is in 3rd place with 15 cases. The towns of Bocaue, Baliuag, and Sta. Maria is in 4th place with 11 cases each.
May 14 – 147 COVID-19 Cases, 57 Recovered Patients, & 28 Deaths
The Bulacan Provincial Health Office reported 147 confirmed cases, 57 recovered patients, and 28 deaths.
PHO reported 8 new cases, 5 new recoveries, and 1 death. The 8 new cases come from the towns of (4) Baliuag, (1) Calumpit, and (3) Marilao. The 5 new recoveries are from the towns of (1) Meycauayan City, (1) Baliuag, (1) City of San Jose Del Monte, and (2) Calumpit. Sadly, a patient from Meycauayan City died.
The City of San Jose Del Monte is still at the top with 22 cases. Malolos City and Marilao followed next with 17 cases each. Baliuag is in 3rd place with 15 cases. The town of Bocaue is in 4th place with 12 cases.
May 15, 2020 – 148 COVID-19 Cases, 57 Recovered Patients, & 28 Deaths
The Bulacan Provincial Health Office reported a new case that comes from the City of Malolos. The total now is at 148 confirmed cases, 57 recovered patients, and 28 deaths.
The City of San Jose Del Monte is still at the top with 22 cases. Malolos City followed next with 18 cases. Marilao is in 3rd place with 17 cases. Baliuag is in 4th place with 15 cases. The town of Bocaue is in 5th place with 12 cases.
May 16, 2020 – 149 COVID-19 Cases, 57 Recovered Patients, & 28 Deaths
The Bulacan Provincial Health Office reported a new case that comes from Pulilan. The total now is at 149 confirmed cases, 57 recovered patients, and 28 deaths.
The City of San Jose Del Monte is still at the top with 22 cases. Malolos City followed next with 18 cases. Marilao is in 3rd place with 17 cases. Baliuag is in 4th place with 15 cases. The town of Bocaue is in 5th place with 12 cases.
May 17, 2020 – 151 COVID-19 Cases, 57 Recovered Patients, & 29 Deaths
The Bulacan Provincial Health Office reported two (2) new cases and one (1) additional death. The new cases come from the towns of Marilao and Balagtas. Sadly, a patient from Marilao died today. The total now is at 151 confirmed cases, 57 recovered patients, and 29 deaths.
The City of San Jose Del Monte is still at the top with 22 cases. Malolos City and Marilao followed next with 18 cases. Baliuag is in 3rd place with 15 cases. The town of Bocaue is in 4th place with 12 cases.
May 18, 2020 – 152 COVID-19 Cases, 57 Recovered Patients, & 29 Deaths
The Bulacan Provincial Health Office reported two (1) new cases from the City of San Jose Del Monte. The total now is at 152 confirmed cases, 57 recovered patients, and 29 deaths.
The City of San Jose Del Monte is still at the top with 23 cases. Malolos City and Marilao followed next with 18 cases. Baliuag is in 3rd place with 15 cases. The town of Bocaue is in 4th place with 12 cases.
May 19, 2020 – 152 COVID-19 Cases, 57 Recovered Patients, & 30 Deaths
The Bulacan Provincial Health Office reported a patient from Balagtas died today. The total now is at 152 confirmed cases, 57 recovered patients, and 30 deaths.
The City of San Jose Del Monte is still at the top with 23 cases. Malolos City and Marilao followed next with 18 cases. Baliuag is in 3rd place with 15 cases. The town of Bocaue is in 4th place with 12 cases.
